To upload files:

  1. Click “Upload”
  2. Click “Choose Files” to pull up your files.
    1. You may upload multiple files at one time if you have the following browsers:
      1. Internet Explorer 9 or newer
      2. Firefox 3.6 or newer
      3. Chrome 6 or newer
      4. Safari 4 or newer
      5. Opera 11 or newer
    2. You can only upload one file at a time if you have an older browser not listed above.
  3. Search for your files in the Explorer box that appears. If you’re selecting multiple files, you can press CTRL and click on each file to select it.
  4. Click “Open”
  5. Click “OK”
  6. If you’re only able to upload one file at a time, repeat the steps above for each file you want to upload.
  7. The file(s) will begin uploading and you’ll see their progress. Large files will take some time. As long as the round arrows keep spinning the files are still uploading and the program hasn’t frozen.

To download files:

  1. Check the box next to the file name. If the file is in a folder, you’ll need to click on the folder name to open it, then check the box next to the file name.
  2. Once the file is selected, click “More” and “Download File”
  3. Click “Save” to save the file to your network or other storage device.

Note: You can only download one file at a time. When possible, your Managing Editor will place multiple files in a .zip folder for ease of download.

To organize your files:

If you are working on multiple books or have multiple documents per chapter, it’s helpful to create folders to organize your documents.

  1. Click “Create New Folder”
  2. Name it – by book title, chapter or other familiar naming convention
  3. Click “Create”
  4. You can then click on the folder to open it and upload files directly into it following the instructions above.

To delete files:

Did you upload the wrong file or do you want to replace a file with a more recent version?

  1. Check the box next to the file name.
  2. Click “More” and then “Delete”.
  3. Click “OK”.

Note: If you’re replacing a file with a more recent version, please alert your Managing Editor so he/she can keep track of the most current version.

General Notes:

  • If your file is larger than 300 MB, please contact your Managing Editor for alternate upload options.
  • Any co-authors and other designees can use this process to send files to Hayden-McNeil. Simply provide them with your login information.
  • The file transfer site is to be used only for transmitting files to/from Hayden-McNeil.
  • If your file is too large, the file type is unsupported, or you’re sending multiple files, try to zip the file(s) into a .zip folder. To do this, create a folder on your computer and put each file into that folder.
    When that’s complete:
    • PC users, right-click on the folder and select “Send to” and “Compressed zip folder”.
    • MAC users, control-click on the folder and select Compress “folder name”.
