ABOUT THE NOTEBOOKS

What are carbonless sets?

A carbonless set is made up of 2 sheets of paper, top and bottom, with the top being the original that is written on and the bottom, which is the instant copy. Both top and bottom sheets are white paper to ensure superior clarity, which is a unique feature of our product that cannot be found elsewhere.

Are the sheets perforated?

Yes. We offer two different options for perforation: the top page (original) or the bottom page (copy) can be easily torn out to be collected by the instructor.

Is carbonless paper safe?

Yes! A University of California-Berkeley study found that there were no harmful effects from contact with this type of paper. For any ill effects to occur, one would have to ingest hundreds of sheets of carbonless paper.

Is there any difference in the content amongst the twelve notebooks?

No! The white duplicate paper is the same in all of our notebooks. The only differences are in the reference materials geared toward different disciplines, type of binding, and number of sets of duplicate paper.

Why should students use a laboratory notebook?

Exposure to real world science techniques, support for inquiry--based lab work, and proof of laboratory notebook work for AP credit at colleges and universities. In addition:

  • Clear organization allows students to sharpen their inquiry abilities.
  • Notebooks act as a formative assessment tool and enhance the teacher-student relationship.
  • Instructors carry one sheet of high quality white duplicate paper rather than an entire notebook from each student.
  • Dry-labbing is eliminated. Cheating is shut down.
  • Tracking evolving understanding of scientific concepts and putting together large concepts becomes easy.

For which disciplines are your notebooks appropriate?

They are useful in any laboratory course for chemistry, life science or physical science/physics. In addition, math teachers have found our notebooks to be useful for their students.

Do you offer discounts for large orders?

Yes! When you order over 1000 notebooks during a 12-month period, you will receive free shipping. We also offer seasonal specials and discounts when you purchase full cases (see online store for case prices). Please check out our promotions for the latest discounts or contact us.

SHIPPING

How long will it be before I receive my notebooks?

We ship our orders with 24-48 hours and often on the same day as we receive your order. If an order needs to be sent overnight, just let us know. Or, if an order needs to be held until a specific date, we can do that, too!

Will I be notified when my order is shipped?

No. But, you can always call or email for your order status. (734) 455-7900 or orders@hmpublishing.com.

What if my order is late or missing?

Please call us immediately at (734) 455-7900! Our customer service team can track your order and help to resolve any issues there might be.

 

 

RETURNS

I have an excess of notebooks. Can I return them?

Yes. Hayden-McNeil accepts 100% of returns of Specialty titles in sellable condition within 12 months of an invoice date. Permission is not required - all that is needed is a copy of the original invoice dated within the last 12 months. I have product that was damaged in the shipping process. How do I return it?

Contact our customer service team and we'll take care of the rest.

 

 

ORDERING

Can students buy notebooks directly from your website?

No. We are strictly a wholesaler and can sell only to bookstores, schools, or instructors. However, sales to students are available from our sister company, WH Freeman or Amazon.

Can I pay with a credit card?

Yes! You can pay for your order with a credit card by placing your order online or calling customer service at (734) 455-7900.

Can I send in a PO and get billed later?

Yes! You can place an order with a PO via phone, fax or through our online store.

Will I receive an order confirmation?

Yes. A confirmation will be faxed or emailed to you shortly after you place your order.
